INFO!
I shoot on a DSC HX400V - An old Sony bridge camera from 2014 ! If starting out in wildlife photography on a tight budget I heavily recommend this camera , it has 20.4 MP (mega pixels) which is decent enough & a 24-1200mm zoom so if you want to go far and beyond this is what I would go for. I was lucky to have my boyfriend buy this camera from his brother but the original price of this camera is around £400 / GBP if you're curious!
The main downside from this camera is that editing can be tricky as this camera does not include RAW files , only fine jpeg and normal jpeg.
Settings?
I tend to keep on either aperture priority or shutter priority but mainly shutter priority as I mainly take photos of birds. I try to keep my ISO on auto but can usually place it at around 1000-2500 (I think?) . I shoot on fine JPEG and use auto focus as manual focus has been a tricky one for me to handle.
More about my journey
Not going to lie , I am no professional and began this as a hobby. I'd taken a keen eye on wildlife photography through doom scrolling on Instagram and thought it would be something it'd definitely take on but the only downside is that I cannot whip money from up my behind and most lenses that take on further distances are often up in the 800-1000s when it comes to price . So during around Christmas time my boyfriend had mentioned that his brother had a Sony camera which highly peeked my interest , it ended up with my boyfriend and his parents buying it off his brother for me which I found incredibly sweet and deeply appreciate.
So one day my boyfriend randomly went to me saying "Hey do you want to go bird spotting on the weekend?" and now we tend to aim to go bird watching every other weekend as he's the bird spotter with my dads old Nikon binoculars and I'm the photographer so a win is a win! I'm still learning on how to master my camera as it isn't the lens or build that's the skill , it's the photographer themselves but birds can be tricky individuals to spot but I'm getting better slowly (I hope) ..
The main bird I aim to spot some day you would think is a king fisher probably but no I really want to spot a barn owl in the wild and I understand that my iso may not be able to keep up on the dawning and dusk hours but I hope to be able to get a picture eventually!
people have seen my page ! Have a lovely day <3
